Release 6.21.0 Summary

The focus of this release was to update our WordPress environments to version 6.5.5. Features of this release include:

  • Interactivity API: Simplifies the development process with fewer dependencies on external tools while maintaining optimal performance, enabling the creation of new mega menus. The mega menu proof of concept will be completed in the next release.
  • Over 110 performance-related improvements have been made, including optimizations for block themes. Note that we should wait 28 days for accurate page speed insights records.
  • AVIF Image Format Support: This modern image format offers better compression and quality than JPEG and PNG, resulting in up to 50% smaller file sizes, leading to faster page loads and reduced bandwidth usage​
  • Enhanced Editing Performance: The block and site editors are significantly faster, with up to 5x faster typing, 2x faster editor loading
  • Revision history now shows more information by default

Hero

  • Variation 6: Fix for issue where, when toggling on the Hide Image Mobile setting on the Hero, image was being hidden across all breakpoints
  • Fix for issue where text shadow is not displaying or displaying on the wrong element in the editor on Hero variations 2, 3 and 4.

Other

  • Slack: Fix for issue where Slack stream was no longer showing a link to edit the post
  • Program Cards/Tables: Fix for issue where sort buttons do not always work
  • Cards – Add the ability to set the ‘link whole card’ link to open in a new tab
